Previews & Predictions: WWE Royal Rumble 2017

The Royal Rumble has been my favorite Pay-Per-View since I was a little kid.  It’s easily the most fun event of  the year, and I always get a kick out of the surprises and unpredictability that comes with throwing thirty pro wrestlers in the same ring at the same time. The rest of the card for this year’s event doesn’t really thrill me, but I will always love the Rumble match.  So without further ado, let’s break it on down…

Reviews & Reactions: WWE 205 Live

Ever since the Cruiserweight Classic, I’ve been saying that the cruiserweights should be given their own show, as opposed to being incorporated into the WWE’s main roster.  Much to the surprise and delight of hardcore pro wrestling fanatics, the WWE has granted its newest division a chance to bask in the spotlight in the form of 205 Live, a new program airing exclusively on the WWE Network. The first episode aired on 11/29/16, and after watching it, the jury is very much still out as to whether or not WWE can successfully pull off a weekly all cruiserweight show.

NXT TakeOver Toronto: Previews & Predictions

Once again, WWE makes the fatal mistake of putting on an NXT special event the night before a main roster pay-per-view. Every damn time the company does this, NXT wipes the floor with the main roster; you’d think they’d learn their lesson.  Granted, Survivor Series was one of my favorite PPVs back in the day (along w/ the Royal Rumble) and I have to admit I’m pretty darn happy to see so many traditional 5 on 5 elimination matches happening this coming Sunday, but my overall enthusiasm for NXT is about a million times greater, so without further ado…

Wednesday Night’s Alright for Fighting

Doomsday Device has been a little light on wrestling related content of late.  There are a lot of reasons for this, but the most prominent one is that I’ve been pretty burnt out on WWE.  The main roster just isn’t doing it for me; Raw and Smackdown feel like glorified commercials for the pay-per-view events, and said PPVs haven’t really done much to hold my attention or even pique my interest (I stopped watching No Mercy after the first match, and I haven’t even bothered to start Hell in a Cell yet).  On top of that, many of my favorite talents have been beyond poorly booked (Bayley, Gallows & Anderson, the entire Cruiserweight Division, etc, etc) which is always tough to watch.

WWE Roundup: New Champions Galore!

So much has happened in the WWE since the last time I wrote a wrestling-related post.  First and foremost, my top three current favorite wrestlers are now champions.  I honestly never thought I’d see the day where Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles and Kevin Owens would be holding the three top titles in the company.  As much as things have changed in the WWE over the past year, it’s still completely surreal.

5 wrestlers WWE needs to sign to complete the New Era

Much has changed in the WWE over the past few months.  After Wrestlemania, the company announced they were entering a “New Era.”  Focusing on newly signed and younger talents, acknowledging the existence of other wrestling promotions and ending the stale Authority angle are just a few of the positives that have been implemented so far.

NXT TakeOver Brooklyn II: Previews and Predictions

I can’t help but feel like it might not be the best idea for WWE to run NXT events on the same weekends as their major PPVs.  Reason being is that time and again NXT has stolen the show, making the main roster product look pretty darn inferior.  NXT events wisely focus on quality of matches over quantity and Brooklyn II looks like it’s got some serious bangers on tap for fans of actual wrestling.  So, without further ado…
